Classic?
As I indicated it in my previous blog, I write my thesis in Latex, using the Classicthesis model and a nice font, the Minion Pro. The workflow of my thesis is currently the following one: I use a text editor, Texmaker, to type corrections, then I print them and correct with a red pen.
Texmaker is a very handy editing tool. However, as it is not an outliner, it has a drawback: it does not let you rearrange sections of a text on the fly. One must resolve oneself to do copy and paste, which can be hardly comfortable.

So, I now regret slightly having used Texmaker prematurely. If I had continued to use Scrivener, I could now reorder the sections of my work on the fly.
I therefore draw today the following teaching: whatever the text to write, it is always best to wait for the last moment to format it. But is not it something you already knew?

Comme j’ai pu l’indiquer dans mon précédent blog, je rédige ma thèse en Latex, en utilisant le modèle Classicthesis ainsi qu’une jolie police de caractère, le Minion pro. Le workflow de ma thèse est actuellement le suivant : je tape les corrections dans Texmaker, un éditeur de texte Latex, je les imprime et je corrige au stylo rouge.
Texmaker est un outil d’édition très pratique. Toutefois, comme ce n’est pas un outliner, il présente un inconvénient : il ne permet pas de réorganiser les sections d’un texte à la volée. Il faut se résoudre à faire du copier-coller, ce qui peut n’être guère confortable.
Du coup, je regrette un peu aujourd’hui d’avoir utilisé prématurément Texmaker. Si j’avais continué à me servir de Scrivener, je pourrais réordonner les sections de mon travail à la volée.
J’en tire donc aujourd’hui l’enseignement suivant : quelque soit le texte à écrire, il est toujours préférable d’attendre le dernier moment pour le mettre en forme. Mais n’est-ce pas quelque chose que tu savais déjà ?
