Nothing more to be said?

Last night, I was listening to a conference which was held by the French philosopher and sinologist François Jullien, while making some collages. When a sentence in particular caught my attention. This sentence is at the beginning of the conference, maybe in the fifth minute, I am not quite sure. In a few short words, it seemed to me that everything was told of what I have been trying to implement for nine years in philosophy workshops: elaborate a thought in speech which endeavours to express it. 

This conference is dedicated to the usage of concept in philosophy and to the question of meaning and interest of such a tool in Chinese thought and it is fascinating, as all the works of François Jullien.

J’écoutais hier soir une conférence du philosophe et sinologue français François Jullien, tout en faisant quelques collages. Lorsqu’une phrase retint tout particulièrement mon attention. Cette phrase figure au tout début de la conférence, peut-être vers la cinquième minute, je ne sais plus. En quelques mots, tout me sembla être dit de ce que j’essaye de mettre en œuvre depuis maintenant près de 9 ans dans les ateliers de philosophie : élaborer une pensée dans la parole qui tente de l’exprimer.

Cette conférence est consacrée à l’usage du concept en philosophie et à la question du sens et de l’intérêt d’un tel outil dans la pensée chinoise et elle est fascinante, comme le sont tous les ouvrages de François Jullien.
